Quality Assurance Program
FlightSafety has provided quality assurance services, under a number of quality standards, for aircrew training systems since 1984. In January 2005, FlightSafety was registered to the ISO 9001:2000 standard, and the FlightSafety Quality Management System (QMS), based on this international standard for quality, will be used for the SeaPort-e quality program.
The QMS is promulgated by the FlightSafety Quality Manual, which lays out the quality assurance processes that will be a part of the SeaPort-e program. The FlightSafety QMS is designed (1) to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements and (2) to enhance customer satisfaction, including continual improvement of the QMS to ensure the requirements of the SeaPort-e program are met. The quality policy and the quality objectives support the SeaPort-e program, and they commit employees to providing the service or product to the customer on schedule and at optimum cost and ensure the QMS is continually reviewed to assess its effectiveness and efficiency.
The QMS includes the ISO 9001:2000 requirements of control of documents, control of records, internal audits, control of nonconforming product, corrective action and preventive action. In addition, the FlightSafety QMS processes and procedures encompass all the elements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard. The QMS includes the elements of management responsibility and commitment; customer focus; customer satisfaction; management review; resource management; product realization; purchasing; customer satisfaction; internal audit; monitoring and measurement of processes, monitoring and measurement of product; control of nonconforming product; analysis of data and improvement. The QMS is an overarching system, and the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP) is a project specific plan that will be tailored to and provide surveillance over any specific SeaPort-e task activities to ensure the appropriate quality levels are maintained.
FlightSafety SeaPort-e program or task managers will provide specific and detailed work procedures, called program directives (PD), to accomplish any task requirement. The FlightSafety Quality Assurance Manager identifies the processes critical to the quality of the product, and internal auditors (both at the work location and the corporate audit staff) will audit the processes and work instructions as required by the internal audit plan of the QMS. Checklists will ensure that all requirements are met and that objective evidence is obtained to document that the processes and procedures are carried out as required.
Oversight of SeaPort-e activities, including internal audit results, will occur at recurring quality steering committee meetings, the quarterly management review required by ISO 9001:2000 and the monthly program management review for the Vice President Operations and Finance. |
